In short: we repair Miele dishwashers, often behind a custom panel, and Miele ranges, ovens, cooktops, refrigeration and laundry. The parts that fail most often are the dishwasher's drain and heating parts, oven sensors and door locks, induction fans and power boards, and refrigerator fans, sensors and seals. We are an independent service, not affiliated with Miele.

The Miele lines we service

Miele appliances are assembled from separate modules that come out one at a time, which makes them good candidates for repair. The product and the model number decide which parts fit and how the appliance reports a fault, so a photo of the data tag is the most useful thing you can send before a visit. Other makes are on all brands.

  • Dishwashers. The older G 600 and G 800, the mid-2000s G 1000 and G 2000, Futura G 4000 and G 5000, Generation 6000 and the current G 7000, in pre-finished, integrated and fully integrated builds. On a dishwasher the data tag is on the side edge of the door.
  • Ranges. HR ranges in 30, 36 and 48 inch widths: all-gas, dual fuel and electric. The digits after HR record the generation, the fuel, the width and the cooktop, so the full model number on the data tag tells us exactly which range you have.
  • Wall ovens, steam ovens and speed ovens. Convection wall ovens, combi-steam and steam ovens with a water tank, and speed ovens that combine convection with microwave.
  • Induction cooktops. The KM range, such as the five-zone KM 5773 with touch controls in the glass.
  • Built-in refrigeration. MasterCool and integrated refrigerator, freezer and wine columns, including the 18-inch F 147x freezer column with an ice and water dispenser and fully integrated freezers such as the FNS 37492 iE.
  • Laundry. W1 washers and T1 dryers, and earlier dryers such as the T 8000 series (vented and condenser models) and the T 9800 vented dryers.

What fails on a Miele, and why

Wear, heat, hard water and installation details cause most failures. Roughly in order of how often they happen:

Dishwasher drain and water supply

What it usually is: clogged filters, a pit or a shard of glass at the drain pump or the check valve, a blocked sink drain, or a clogged screen where the inlet hose connects. A leak into the base can keep the drain pump running.

What you can check: clean the three filters, make sure the sink drains and the valve under it is open.

What we do: rule out the plumbing, then clear or replace the part. See dishwasher not draining and error codes.

Dishwasher heating and the wash pump

What it usually is: on newer machines the heater is part of the wash pump, and a heater relay or temperature sensor can leave the same cold, wet dishes. Foam from the wrong detergent fools the pressure sensing and imitates both.

What you can check: use dishwasher detergent only, at the normal dose, and keep salt in the softener; Orange County water is hard.

What we do: rule out the cheaper relay and sensor before the pump; the details by generation are on Miele dishwasher repair.

Ovens and ranges: sensors, door locks and cooling fans

What it usually is: an oven sensor reading shorted or open, a self-clean lock that will not close or release, or a failed cooling fan. On the HR 1134, F05 and F06 point at the sensor, F32 and F33 at the lock, F57 at the fan. Each gas burner senses its own flame and sparks again when the signal is weak, so constant re-sparking usually means a dirty or damaged electrode, dirty burner parts or a draft from an open window.

What you can check: burner caps and heads seated flat and dry. Never force a locked oven door.

What we do: measure the sensor, test the lock motor and switches and the fan, and leak-test any gas fitting we open. See Miele oven and range repair.

Induction cooktops: heat and power electronics

What it usually is: fans cool the generators under the glass. On the KM 5773, overheated electronics switch every zone off and the display flashes 0 until they cool; a zone far too hot ends in FE99. Worn fans, a blocked air path, power boards and coils are the usual finds.

What you can check: keep the cabinet under the cooktop clear. The KM 5773 keys sense light, so F1 to F4 after power-up usually means bright or flickering light, or something pale on the keys.

What we do: test fans, boards and coils with the cooktop lifted from its cutout. See Miele induction cooktop repair.

Built-in refrigeration: air flow, defrost and doors

What it usually is: the F 147x freezer column breathes through its toe-kick grille, and a blocked grille or failed condenser fan shows as F 01 47. Ice inside points at a door seal, a panel hung slightly off, a worn hinge, a defrost or drain heater, or a frozen drain channel. Ice makers get a water pressure check before replacement.

What you can check: the toe-kick grille is clean, the door closes on its own, and the water valve is open.

What we do: test fans, sensors and heaters, realign panels and hinges, and do sealed-system work in-house. See Miele refrigerator repair.

Laundry: lint, heat and drainage

What it usually is: dryers that stop heating because lint choked the air flow and tripped a temperature limiter, condenser dryers whose heat exchanger is packed with lint, and washers that will not drain because of a blocked pump filter.

What you can check: clean the lint filters every load, empty the condensate container, and keep the vent duct clear on a vented dryer.

What we do: clear the air path, find out why the limiter tripped, and replace it or the heater. See Miele washer and dryer repair.

Miele symptoms

Start with what the appliance is doing: the safe checks, the usual causes by generation and when to call.

Miele error codes

Most Miele appliances store faults and show some as an F number, but the numbers are not shared across products, so a code only means something read against the model number.

How we work on Miele built-ins

  • Fully integrated dishwashers. The custom panel is protected while we work, and the door springs are matched to its weight.
  • Ranges and wall ovens. If an oven has to come forward out of its cabinet, we say so first and support it. The gas is shut at the appliance valve and every fitting is leak-tested.
  • Induction cooktops. The cooktop is lifted out of its cutout for fans and boards, and we check the ventilation in the cabinet below.
  • Refrigeration columns. Repaired in place through the grille and the interior. We are EPA-certified for refrigerant work and do compressor and leak repairs ourselves; see sealed-system repair.
  • Parts lead times up front. Common parts are on the van. Miele parts come from distributors or the manufacturer, usually in a few business days.

How a Miele repair goes

  1. Call or book online. Max, the owner and a working technician, answers the phone. Tell him the model and what the display or lights show.
  2. Diagnosis and written price. Same-day or next-day Monday to Saturday, depending on the schedule. You get the price and the parts lead time in writing, with the $79 applied. Seniors and veterans 20% off, repeat customers 15%.
  3. Repair. On the spot when the part is on the van, otherwise on a return visit.
  4. Warranty. Parts and labor are covered, and a return visit for the same fault within 90 days has no service-call fee.

Miele repair: questions

Are you an authorized Miele service center?

No. We are an independent service, not affiliated with Miele. If your appliance is still under Miele's own warranty, contact Miele first; after that, we can help.

Which Miele appliances do you repair?

Dishwashers, ranges, wall, steam and speed ovens, induction cooktops, built-in refrigeration and Miele laundry.

How much does a Miele repair cost?

The $79 service call is applied to the repair. Dishwasher drain and valve repairs sit at the low end of the tables above, pump and heater assemblies and control boards at the top. You approve a written price first.

Does an F code mean the same thing on every Miele appliance?

No. F11 is a drain fault on a dishwasher but a memory-program limit on the KM 5773 cooktop. Codes also shift between generations of the same product, so we read them by model number.

Is an older Miele range or refrigerator worth repairing?

Usually. An oven cavity or a refrigerator cabinet outlasts the sensors, fans, seals and boards that wear inside it. The deciding question is whether a control board for that model is still made, and we check that before you commit.

Do you repair Miele steam ovens?

Yes. Most steam oven faults come from water and scale, which wear the pump and the steam generator in hard water. Regular descaling prevents most of them; see the steam oven descaling guide.

Do you cover my part of Orange County?

We serve all of Orange County from Irvine, Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 7 PM, including Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Dana Point, Coto de Caza, Yorba Linda and Villa Park. See service areas.
